Amid the ongoing West Asia conflict, Consul General of Israel to Mumbai, Yaniv Revach, said that his country was not negotiating with Pakistan and it is the Americans and US President Donald Trump, who are the leading the talks.

“I don’t think my government is happy that Pakistan is actually the one who’s mediating between Iran and the US… Israel is not negotiating with Pakistan. The Americans and President Trump are the ones leading the talks… We trust the American government to take care of the Israeli security interests in this matter,” Revach told ANI.

Revach thinks that real peace negotiations between the two sides “cannot work if one side only gives demands without any compromise.”

“For diplomacy to move forward, there must be responsibility from all sides. The international community expects Iran to respect international rules, lower tensions, and stop supporting all of those terror groups around the region… If Iran truly wants stability in the region, it must show this through practical steps and not only public statements. There was no reason for Iran to attack the UAE or Oman a few days ago… I really can’t understand what the reason for that was,” he said.

Further, Revach claimed that Israel and the US do not want war.

“Israel wants security and stability and peace for its people and for the region, of course. But unfortunately, the Iranian regime continues to support different terrorist groups around the region and across the Middle East and openly threatens and says it’s very clear that it wants to destroy the state of Israel,” he said.

He believes that the future now depends mainly on Iran’s action, adding that if the country “reduces aggression and stops supporting terror organisations in the region, like Shia militias in Iraq, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Houthis in Yemen, there will be a chance for more stability.”

“Iranians are using the Strait of Hormuz as a way to blackmail the US, Israel, or the Gulf states… The world cannot accept the use of an international trade route like the Strait of Hormuz as a form of political blackmail,” he added.

While talking about talks between Israel and Lebanon, Revach said that Hezbollah remains the “biggest obstacle to peace.”

“In the last few years, the Gulf states have not been supporting Lebanon anymore because they understand that as long as Hezbollah, as a terror organisation, is still controlling the government of Lebanon, there’s no option for peace or democracy or stability in the region,” he said.

He stated that Israel holds the responsibility to protect its people and citizens, “exactly like India has the responsibility to protect its citizens in the north against Pakistan.”

“We have no conflict with Lebanon and with the people of Lebanon. We want stability, want a better future,” he added.
