Iran is ready to support Chinese President Xi Jinping’s four-point proposal on ending the US-Iran war, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, Iran’s ambassador to China, said on Monday.

In a social media post on X, Fazli said that the Islamic Republic’s support for the Chinese President’s Middle East peace proposal is “aimed at establishing lasting security and shared development in the Persian Gulf region, an issue that was also emphasized during the meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries.”

The development comes hours after President Xi proposed a four-point plan on ending the US-Iran war during his meeting with UAE President Zayed Al Nahyan in Beijing.

According to Iranian state-media, the Chinese plan includes “adherence to the principle of peaceful coexistence, respect for national sovereignty, adherence to the rule of international law, and coordination between development and security.”

Earlier, US President Donald Trump had rejected Iran’s response to a new US proposal aimed at ending the conflict in the Middle East, calling Tehran’s position “TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE” as tensions continued around the Strait of Hormuz.

“I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called ‘Representatives.’ I don’t like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

The proposal has been sent via Pakistan, a mediator between Washington and Tehran as they negotiate a deal on ending the war.

In its response, Iran had reportedly insisted that the talks should focus on efforts to end the war and the issue of Tehran’s nuclear program should be discussed at later stages of the talks.

The Iranian response, according to the state media, focused on ending the “aggression on all fronts, including Israeli attacks on Lebanon.” Tehran has also demanded security guarantees for shipping in the Persian Gulf.
