Amid the massive ongoing protests in Iran, US President Donald Trump has said that the United States is ready to help Iran, which is looking at “Freedom” like never before.
Trump said in a post on the social media platform Truth Social, “Iran is looking at FREEDOM, perhaps like never before. The USA stands ready to help!!!”
Presently, the situation is tense in the Middle Eastern country with huge protests spread across more than 100 cities, tight security measures, and a near-total internet shutdown. The demonstrations that were initially organised over inflation in the country gradually turned into a nationwide movement against the Islamic Republic.
‘Trump briefed on military options of targeting Iran’: Reports
According to media reports, Donald Trump has been briefed on the possible military options targeting Iran. The contingency plan presented to Trump in recent days suggests targeted strikes on select sites in Tehran as an option. These selected sites would include non-military infrastructure connected to the internal security apparatus of the regime. As per reports, the action plan has been drafted after a thorough evaluation of diplomatic, economic, and military tools in a bid to end alleged violence by Iranian authorities.
Trump’s warning to Iran
The US President had issued a stern warning last week that if protestors were killed, the US would launch an attack against the adversaries. “I made the statement very strongly that if they start killing people like they have in the past, we will get involved. We will be hitting them very hard where it hurts, and that does not mean boots on the ground, but it means hitting them very hard where it hurts so we do not want that to happen,” Trump said.
While expressing concern over the safety of the protestors in Iran, Trump had said that the United States is closely monitoring the recent developments in Iran. He said, “I just hope the protestors in Iran are going to be safe because it is a very dangerous place right now and again, I tell the Iranian leaders you better not start shooting because we’ll start shooting too.”
