Earthquake-hit Venezuelans praise Indian medical team for treatment at Army Field Hospital

People in Venezuela have lauded the Indian medical team at the field hospital that is providing treatment to all those affected by the devastating earthquakes in the regions.

The teams have been established under ‘Operation Amistad’.

Taking to X, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) shared photographs and videos show locals receiving treatment at the hospital. They even shared their experiences about the medical assistance being provided there.

While taking about a patient who suffered injury during the earthquake, a person said that the medical assistance being provided in the hospital is “excellent.”

On being questioned about the health issues being faced by the patient, the local said, “We are from La Guaira state, from Playa Grande. She (patient) has a double fibula fracture and they are going to operate on her tonight.”

She further stated that the injury to the person occurred during the earthquake. “We just arrived and have received immediate care. The whole service until now has been excellent,” she added.

“Caring for people. The Army Field Hospital remains committed to serving affected communities,” the MEA wrote alongside the video.

Another post showed a woman expressing gratitute to the medical team for the support to the affected ones in Venezuela.

Notably, ‘Operation Amistad’ was launched by India to support Venezuela after devastating twin earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 on June 24. These have claimed the lives of more than 2,000 people, besides causing widespread destruction across the country.

Apart from the videos, the External Affairs Ministry also shared images showing people receiving treatment at the field hospital.

While sharing the pictures on X, the MEA stated, “Healing lives. Serving humanity. The Army Field Hospital continues its humanitarian mission.”
