The United States Department of Justice (DoJ) has released new files, running into millions, related to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The release includes more than 3 million pages, 2,000 videos and 1,80,000 images. The release also carries emails shared between Epstein and high-profile personalities.
A law mandated the DoJ last year to release files related to Epstein, and the latest one is the biggest tranche of documents made public so far. The deadline to release these documents was about six weeks ago.
“Today’s release marks the end of a very comprehensive document identification and review process to ensure transparency to the American people and compliance,” Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said.
The files detail Epstein’s jail term, a psychological analysis, his death in August 2019 while in prison, as well as probe records on the sex offender’s associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, who was found guilty of helping him in the trafficking of underage girls.
Here are the key details from the newly-released Epstein files, as the documents and material have come to be known:
- US President Donald Trump finds his name again in the latest set of files. An FBI document mentions several allegations against the Republican leader from a tip line. It may be noted that an FBI tip line is a secure, 24/7 service for the public to report information regarding federal crimes, terrorism, cyber-attacks, and national security threats. The White House has called the allegations “untrue and sensationalist”. It has been reported that investigators at the time also believed the allegations were not credible.
- The release further shows Epstein proposing an introduction between an account named “The Duke” and a 26-year-old Russian woman. Epstein, mentioning he is in London, wrote: “What time woudl you like me and (redacted), we will also need/ have private time (sic)”. “The Duke” said in the reply: “I am just departing Scotland should be down by 1800. I’ll ring you when I get down if you can give me a number to ring. Alternatively we could have dinner at Buckingham Palace and lots of privacy. A”.
- A part of the release talks about Epstein’s time in jail and his death. The sex offender chose not to have a cellmate and “engaged in manipulative behaviour to avoid having one”, reports the BBC.
- The files claim referring to emails from Epstein that Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates caught sexually-transmitted disease after having sex with Russian girls. Gates’s spokesperson has dubbed the claims “absolutely absurd and completely false”.
- The files also show Ghislaine Maxwell talking about how she met Epstein. A transcript from July 24, 2025 between Maxwell and Deputy US Attorney General Todd Blanche reveals the exact circumstances. Maxwell said she was introduced to Epstein in the US in 1991 by a friend. Maxwell at that time had parted ways with her long-time boyfriend and was told by the friend that Eptein was looking for a wife. “I met him at his offices – on Madison Garden. And I think the most memorable thing I can think about that is he was wearing a tie, which he didn’t often do. It had a giant, seemed like a ketchup stain on it.” Maxwell, the daughter of media tycoon Robert Maxwell, is reported as saying.
It may be noted that Epstein had connections with many well-known and respected personalities and the mention of their names in the released files does not necessarily indicate any wrongdoing on their part as well as the truthfulness of the claims made.
