Referring to the brutal murder of Indian-origin Chandra Mouli Nagamallaiah by co-worker Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, a 37-year-old Cuban national with a violent criminal history, US President Donald Trump announced that the time for being soft on illegal immigrant criminals was over under his administration.
Trump strongly condemned the crime and announced that the accused would be charged with first-degree murder and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
“I am aware of the terrible reports regarding the murder of Chandra Nagamallaiah, a well-respected person in Dallas, Texas, who was brutally beheaded, in front of his wife and son, by an ILLEGAL ALIEN from Cuba who should have never been in our Country,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
He added that Cobos-Martinez had previously been arrested for serious offenses including child sex abuse, grand theft auto, and false imprisonment, but was released back into the US under the Biden administration after Cuba refused to accept him.
Trump further stated, “Rest assured, the time for being soft on these Illegal Immigrant Criminals is OVER under my watch.”
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to law and order, he confirmed that the suspect is now in custody and will face the harshest legal consequences. Cobos-Martinez, who currently faces homicide charges, has a criminal history that also includes carjacking.
“Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, Attorney General Pam Bondi, Border Czar Tom Homan, and many others in my Administration, are doing an incredible job in, MAKING AMERICA SAFE AGAIN. This criminal, who we have in custody, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law. He will be charged with murder in the first degree!” Trump wrote.
Earlier this year, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) released Cobos-Martinez after Cuba declined to take him back due to his record.
Tricia McLaughlin, a Public Affairs official at the Department of Homeland Security, said ICE will now begin “removing criminal illegal aliens to third countries” when deportation to their home country fails.
Meanwhile, the Consulate General of India in Houston is closely monitoring the case and providing consular support. Consul General DC Manjunath confirmed that the consulate is in contact with the victim’s family and local authorities and is offering all necessary assistance.
