BJP party workers locked the office of district collector at Koraput on Monday protesting over his absence to receive their memorandum despite having giving prior intimation of their demonstration.The party workers under the leadership of  Bhrugu Buxipatra, general secretary of the state BJP and  Rabi Nayak, MLA of Kuchinda did not handover the memorandum to the other officers and left for Lamtaput. Bauxipatra alleged that the district administration, in particular,and the state in general had failed to deliver the benefits of central government assisted programmes.

Flow of funds from the centre has increased manifold but the district and state authorities have failed to utilise it, they alleged. While the central government worked hard in bringing food security act , the Odisha government had made a mess of its implementation and selection of beneficiaries were full of irregularities, alleged  Buxipatra. Black marketing of essentials is rampant. Deprived of benefits under various central schemes,the poor are migrating outside Odisha in search of work and wages, he alleged.

Speaking on the issue of shutting down of Sewa paper mill at Jeypore for the last many months he questioned the state government over the reason of not intervening to give justice to workers and more than one Lakh people who were dependent on the mill directly and indirectly.

Further why was the state government silent over the arrear dues of the plant in temrs of electricity and water bills. It runs to several crores, he said.The Telengiri irrigation project has not been able to provide irrigation till date though 16 years have passed since its conceptualisation and project cost had increased from Rs.106.18 crore. to Rs.475 crore. In Upper Kolab hydro electric project the turbines are yet to be made cent percent functional.It was for the first time in the last many years that such a massive rally was taken out.
