General secretary of All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA) ~ Mr CH Venkantachalam lambasted the Centre for increasing FDI in the banking sector and promoting private sector banks. 
He also alleged the Centre&’s agenda is ‘denationalising and foreignising’ banks by amending laws in the last winter session of Parliament . “The amended law has given enough scope for merger and consolidation of public sector banks, licences for opening private sector stalls, increasing the ceiling in voting rights, facilitating of issuance of right issues and bonus shares in government banks and removal of existing ceiling of authorised capitals of banks,” he said, addressing the joint conference of Odisha State Central Bank Employees and Officers yesterday. 
He informed that the bank officers and other employees will protest on the call  of United Forum of Bank Unions on 19 July, the 45th bank nationalisation anniversary day.  He demanded that  deposits of about Rs 80 lakh crores should be utilised for the development of the country. Most of the defaulters of bank loans are big corporate houses and influential political leaders he charged.
He also demanded a stop to outsourcing of bank jobs and contractual works and immediate steps to fill up the over two lakh vacant posts.
