Outbreak of diarrhoea has affected over 50 people in Nuagam village under Daringbadi block.
Some of the patients are serious and there has been a rise in the number of patients since last week as no medical team had reached them, alleged Ramesh Pradhan , a local of the block.
Dr Jaypal Senapaty of Daringbadi CHC said, “I have no information about the spread of the disease. But it is a fact that people continue to consume contaminated water due to the absence of safe drinking water sources like tube well in the village”.
When contacted Dr Sapneswar Gadanayak, the Chief District Medical Officer, Kandhamal said, it was a sporadic case and so far 23 people have been affected.
“There is no casualty. The situation is now under control. We have sent health teams from Daringbadi who geared up all preventive measures on war footing. We have supplied sufficient medicines to the village through health teams,” he said.
