At least two people were killed and two others injured when a gunman opened fire at a mall in the San Francisco suburb of San Bruno, according to police on Wednesday.

During a press briefing, San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini said, “Two people were taken to San Francisco General Hospital with gunshot wounds to their lower bodies in stable condition.”

Barberini further said, “It was a senseless act”, calls this incident “true disregard for human life”.

“Police were searching for one or possibly two gunmen who may have fled the scene by getting on a BART train headed for Oakland,” he added.

The Bay Area Rapid Transit authority said one of its commuter stops was shut down as a precaution after the shooting.
