At least 22 people were killed and 50 others injured in a suspected terror attack at a stadium in Manchester, following a concert by US singer Ariana Grande, media reports said.

The blast took place at the Manchester Arena at about 10.35 pm (local time) where singer Ariana Grande had been performing.

The Greater Manchester Police are treating the blast as a ‘terrorist incident’. The attack is likely the worst since the 2005 London bombing, that killed over 50 people including the perpetrators.

There was chaos in the stadium after the blast as people were seen running helter-skelter in panic. The area was evacuated and ambulances were dispatched to the stadium, where some 20,000 people were present to see Grande perform.

Train service was suspended at Manchester's Victoria Station, which is next door to the concert’s venue, and all transport lines were reportedly cut by the authorities after the incident.

As precautionary measures, the nearest Victoria train station was closed down by authorities and is expected to remain shut throughout the day. Britian declared its second-highest alert level of “severe”.

Facebook also activated its ‘Safety Check’, allowing people to inform about their locations. Several people posted photographs of their teenager kids, asking officials to inform about their whereabouts.

The crowd at the concert consisted a large number of young teenagers. Micro-blogging site Twitter too was flooded with pictures of missing people posted by family.
