The incident took place near Kanpur Road, close to a Hanuman Temple in Lucknow on the evening of February 12. Pedestrians and an auto-rickshaw were hit by the vehicle.

A 6-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital. At least five others, including women and another child, were injured.

WHO WAS DRIVING

Police say the car was allegedly driven by a Class 12 student, who had reportedly attended a farewell party earlier that day. Another minor girl was also inside the vehicle.

AFTER THE CRASH

After the collision, the boy fled the scene, abandoning the car. The girl stepped out and was taken into custody for questioning. Soon after, the police traced and detained him as of February 13.
