Days after its Founder and CEO Jack Dorsey said he was not a fan of the Twitter ‘Like’ button and would get rid of it “soon”, the micro-blogging site said though this was under consideration, it wouldn’t be happening soon.

According to a report published in The Telegraph on Monday, Jack Dorsey last week admitted at a Twitter event that he was not a fan of the heart-shaped button and that it would be getting rid of it “soon”.

Sharing a link to The Telegraph story, @TwitterComms clarified that this was not happening noon.

“As we’ve been saying for a while, we are rethinking everything about the service to ensure we are incentivising healthy conversation, that includes the like button. We are in the early stages of the work and have no plans to share right now,” tweeted @TwitterComms.

Brandon Borrman, Vice President of Twitter Communications, also said it was not happening soon.

“Short story on ‘Like’. We’ve been open that we’re considering it. Jack even mentioned it in front of the US Congress. There’s no timeline. It’s not happening a ‘soon’,” he tweeted, while sharing the @TwitterComms post.

Several Twitter users expressed that they were not in favour of the move to do away with the feature, saying “Like” button allowed them to support others or offer solidarity.
