Now, Lip Sync Live on Facebook, add songs to your videos

Facebook users in a few countries can now add songs to the videos posted or shared by them. And there is a new feature now on the platform, Lip Sync Live. As the name suggests, the tool will allow people to lip sync songs live.

Facebook announced the rollout of these features on Tuesday.

“Together with the music industry, we are working to enable people around the world to include music in their videos on Facebook, opening up more options for creativity and sharing memories with friends and family,” Tamara Hrivnak, Head of Music Business Development & Partnerships, and Fred Beteille, Head of Product, Music & Rights, have said in a blog post.

The social media giant is currently testing this in several markets. The blog post says Facebook is looking forward to making the features available more broadly soon.

The Lip Sync Live feature will let users lip sync to select songs available on the platform.

“With Lip Sync Live, you can express yourself with music from a variety of genres in real time. So whether you prefer songs like “Happier” by Ed Sheeran or “God’s Plan” by Drake, Lip Sync Live lets you bring friends and family into spontaneous musical moments,” said the post.

You can choose the Lip Sync Live option when you start a Live video. There is a list to select your song from, and you can also add a description and customise your video with masks or a background of your choice.

When broadcasting with Lip Sync Live, friends will see the artist and song highlighted on the video. They can tap to follow the artist on Facebook.

The blog post hints that Facebook is exploring more ways to bring music to the platform.

“In the coming months, we’ll start testing options for adding the music you love to Facebook Stories. We’re looking forward to continuing to work with the music industry to create new ways for people to connect and express themselves through music across our family of apps,” it says.
