Mace Brand, a known name in safety and security equipment market, has now brought its personal safety products to India. With the launch of an Indo-American joint venture, Mace products such as pepper sprays and personal alarms will now be available in the Indian market.

“With over 30 years’ experience in developing aerosol defence, Mace delivers options that fit your lifestyle and self-defence needs. They are easy to use and great for all ages,” the company said in a statement.

The personal safety products are available at a competitive price range starting from Rs 499 on MaceIndia.in and e-commerce portals like Amazon. Mace provides warranty and educational programmes for all products and services.

A look at some of the products:

Pepper sprays

The company claims to use natural ingredients in these sprays that irritate the eyes of a potential attacker, permitting an opportunity to the target to escape. “Mace® Brand Pepper sprays are a careful blend of oleoresin capsicum (OC) in a non-flammable vehicle. The company manufactures several different formulas–many of which include UV Dye to help identify a possible assailant and tear gas for an extra punch–in a variety of models and spray patterns,” says the company, adding that the defence sprays are formulated to be an effective, less-than-lethal means of self-defence.

Personal alarms

Personal alarms emit a loud siren-like sound to disorient or surprise an assailant or attract helpful attention. Mace says these personal alarms can be “that perfect alternative” if you don’t want to carry a pepper spray. “Easy to carry and great for travel, personal alarms help get someone’s attention when you need immediate assistance,” says the company.

Stun guns

The powerful weapon disables a potential assailant by temporarily delivering a less-lethal, high-voltage electric shock. “The stun guns deliver a punch greater than their size. Each of the products provides a variety of options to fit your lifestyle and self defence needs,” the company claims. Mace says the product is exclusively crafted for the armed forces and the police. Stun guns are currently not available for Indian customers.
