And not just a gay character, The Eternals will also cover new ground with Marvel's first differently abled (deaf)character, which will be played by Lauren Ridloff.
Starring Chadwick Boseman as the titular superhero, Black Panther was a massive blockbuster worldwide when it premiered in February 2018.
The Eternals will be directed by Chloé Zhao and will release on 6 November, 2020.
Blade was one of the big announcements made at the festival after the full cast of The Eternals, Shang-Chi lead and Natalie Portman's return to the Thor franchise was announced.
Portman will play Thor in the fourth film from the Chris Hemsworth series. The film is titled Thor: Love and Thunder and will be directed by Taika Waititi .
The studios also announced its cast which includes the likes of Angelina Jolie as Thena, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo,, Lauren Ridloff and Don Lee as Gilgamesh.
