The testing of water samples under the JJM was carried out by rural women in just nine months - from April 22 to December 22 this year.
“We will not tolerate this. I have instructed my officials to ensure this does not happen. It has also been conveyed to the state government. We have warned the state not to resort to such tactics as the Centre will then find it difficult to extend its cooperation in running such schemes.”
These schemes will provide tap water supply to about 8 lakh rural households in 4,424 villages of the state.

Informing about the developments under the Jal Jeevan Mission, Bharat Lal, Additional Secretary & Mission Director, National Jal Jeevan Mission said, "At the start of the mission in 2019, out of 19.20 Crore rural households in the country, only 3.23 Crore (17%) had tap water supply.
"This is the first of its kind institute in the country that will focus on water and sanitation. It will prepare an entire generation to benefit for next 30-40 years and can carry on easily the operations and maintenance (O&M) for the water and sanitation sector," Bharat Lal, Additional Secretary and Mission Director, National Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), said.
State Congress leaders even did not spare their own Central leaders and raised a bill worth Rs 12 crore as expenditure during the pandemic.
