UCC: AIMPLB finalised memo to be submitted to Law Commission
A meeting of the board decided to protest with full vigour the proposed uniform civil code at all levels.
A meeting of the board decided to protest with full vigour the proposed uniform civil code at all levels.
An appeal has been made through the letter that a large number of people should register their protest against the Uniform Civil Code.
AIMPLB Chairman Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, opposing the UCC, said this proposal comes in conflicts with Shariat in many cases.
A Special CBI Court in 2020 acquitted the 32 accused in the Babri Masjid demolition case.
"There is a need for educating people about the aspects of Sharia related to Personal Law. The law journal to be published in English and Urdu will have information on the legal rights of minorities and the various court judgments on minority issues in a simplified manner," the board said.
However, the Sunni Central Waqf Board, one of the main litigants in the Ayodhya land dispute case has decided not to file a review petition.
Asked if the Muslim side should accept the 5-acre land, Mr Naqvi said he cannot comment on it as it was a court issue.
The minority panel chief said filing the review petition would send a message to the Hindus that they were trying to put roadblocks in the way of building the Ram temple.
Rahmani said the government tried to bring a bill in Parliament, which was an interference in Shariat and was against the rights of women.
All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi protested the passing of an ordinance by BJP-led NDA government at the Centre on Wednesday calling it “unconstitutional”.
