Autumn is on its way out making way for the joie de vivre that winter usually brings. This cultural capital will soon witness a posse of poets once again from different corners of the world as they step in to enthrall the Calcutta audience with three days of poetic verses. Chair Literary Trust is hosting the much awaited second edition of its signature festival, Chair Poetry Evenings that is committed to the world of poetry exclusively from next month.

Poets from USA, Australia, Portugal, Chile, Netherlands, Hungary, Slovakia and India will recite poems in their native tongue followed by English translations. From reading sessions, folk music sessions to talks on poetry books , the festival is poised to cast a sweet spell on the cultural audience the city is so well known for.

Keeping to previous year’s tradition, the organisers have once again chosen charming venues to make this festival unique with its inaugural day at Rathindra Mancha, Jorasanko. The festival would then carry on in different locales on subsequent days like Jorasanko and Ganges Art Gallery. The festival would culminate with its signature and unique “Poetry on Ganges” as poets would recite on an afternoon cruise over the Ganges that would finally end on a beautiful evening note leaving the audience a bit richer.
