Sanjib Sarkar dabbles in music of a high range, writes songs, does arrangements and is a master in sound designing. Being an independent composer, he has tried his luck at composing commercial jingles and involving himself in documentary, corporate and animation films, besides a lot more. One of the busiest composers around, and after films like Masoom, Na Jene Mon and Chhip Suto Char, he&’s now gearing up for the launch of  his debut Bollywood film, Umformung — The Transformation, directed by Sudeep Ranjan Sarkar.

Umformung deals with two parallel plots — one concerning a Buddhist monk living in a secluded monastery searching for truth, and the other about a successful female builder who understands power, position and wealth. It is all about how the way an incident arises from changes in the latter&’s life, leading her to undertake a journey to understand the truth about life. The film&’s background music, sound design and audio post-production has been done by Sanjib and it&’s all set for released on 26 August. The film has already won several awards, including FSFF 2014 for Best Music, the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke 2015 for Best Music, NIFF 2015 for Best Background Music in February (2015), Euro Film Festival for Best Film, Best Director and Best Original Music, Spain (2016).

Music director, songwriter, sound designer and record producer, Sanjib was born in Bankura, West Bengal, and learned Indian classical music under the tutelage of Provash Dey, followed by a course in sound engineering at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute. He made his debut with the film Joker (2012) as an independent music composer and thereafter composed 

for several films like Third Generation, Sawpno Dekhe Mon, Lyangto — The Inner Story and Chhip Suto Char. He finally earned fame with Masoom (2014) featuring an upbeat track, “Halka Nesha Halka”. 

While Umformung — The Transformation is his debut Hindi feature film, he is currently he is working on another Hindi film called Paradiso under the banner of NEZ moving pixels, along with three Bengali  films, Sonar Biscuit, Akti Putuler Golpo  and Barmashya. 

He has also composed umpteen commercial jingles apart from a private album, Sandhybela, with various singers for the UD Series record label. He did a few corporate and documentary films as an independent music composer, such as Expedition Challenge, Reincarnation, Poison Man Vs Ross, Rhythm Of Soul.

What&’s next ? It&’s time for mega serials like Erao Satru, Ek  Je Ache Kanya, Disha and Jini Zindabad. His music can even be heard in some tele films like Mukti Snan, Sudhamoy Babur Adbhut Golpo and Saheb Barir Bhoot.
