They say there’s divine justice – one has to pay the price for speaking ill of others. A colleague narrated how a neighbour, known for her acidic tongue, happened to enter the house next door to ask for some sugar. The daughter of the house was sitting in the drawing room with a male friend and this was enough for the neighbour to let loose a torrent of verbal abuse.
She loudly questioned the young girl’s character as the entire neighbourhood watched. No one dared intervene for fear of being at the receiving end as well. However, justice was met two days later, when the woman’s daughter eloped!
