Around 92 designers and 15 sponsors will participate in the Lakme Fashion Week 2016. Renowned designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee will present his collection in the grand finale while Tarun Tahiliani will open the show. In its 17th year, LFW will be held in Mumbai on 24-28 August, at The St Regis. This year, around 15 designers and 13 models will mark their debut.
"Each season, Lakme Fashion Week has been setting new trends in fashion. This season is just as exciting with a mix of exciting new talent on board, integration of technology, focus on sustainability and showcases from some of the premier designers in the country," said Jaspreet Chandok, vice-president and head-fashion at IMG Reliance.
Ace fashion designer, Tarun Tahiliani will present an offsite show, his collection showcasing today’s woman and how her sexuality is reflected in the clothes she wears and the manner in which she presents herself to the world. The show will end with a collection of Sabyasachi Mukherjee, who made his debut on the Lakme Fashion Week stage. His collection will be inspired by Lakmé’s beauty statement for the season — "Illuminate", a theme that is often mirrored in a signature design.
The show will pay tribute to the rich heritage of Indian hand-woven textile. Designers such as Sanjay Garg from Raw Mango, Anavila and Anuradha Pegu among others will present India’s rare and finest concepts. Moreover, there will be a show called Assam Day during ITD that will be dedicated to the Assamese designers.
