Keep things classy

The new season collections are already starting to appear in stores so, if you want to work on your wardrobe, now is as good a time as any. That being said, investing in a hat, coat and ankle boots doesn’t feel quite right. The solution? A new bag.

A piece that you can wear now, into next season and beyond, a new carryall is a perfect way to freshen up your wardrobe during this tricky transitional time and luckily, these styles are seriously worthy.

From belt bags to logomania and furry totes, these are the five bag trends that the fashion crowd will be obsessing over this season.

The beaded bag

If there’s one bag worth investing in, it’s a style that promises to transport you right back to your younger years the beaded bag.

Teeny tiny beaded totes might not be the most practical of investments but they do promise to elevate your aesthetic to playful new heights.

A trend which started back in 2016, the style saw resurgence recently. But with the fact that it sells out every time it gets restocked, it might be hard to get your hands on one. Instead, you can find more affordable version at Topshop, Zara or Mango.

The logo bag

The fashion world has renewed its love affair with the logo for fashion trend and it’s bigger and brasher than ever before.

One of this season’s hottest style, a whole host of labels are printing their bags with bold branding from Louis Vuitton to Fendi and Dior.

Reinstating one of its classic handbags, Dior featured its Saddle Bag in a variety of styles but it was the ones that came swathed in the brand’s logo and finished with a gold Dior “D’ buckle that really stole the show.

The belt bag
The fashion industry is known for its questionable comebacks and this season it’s the bumbag but not quite as we know it. For the 90s staple accessory has been given a super-sleek makeover and a new name – the belt bag.

A flat, compact version that sits neatly inside belt loops or to cinch in the waist of dresses or coats, they come in all manner of colours from classic black to nude and pastel pink.

The straw bag

A firm favourite for the warmer months, straw bags have flooded our Instagram feeds but that’s not to say you can’t wear them the year round.

We’re not talking about handheld baskets or oversized beachworthy kinds here though. Instead, you should consider carrying the trend through with sturdier styles in firm, boxy shapes that come decorated with leather trims.

The furry bag

Coats aren’t the only furry things you’ll be shopping this season because fashion’s fixation with fluffy titbits has extended to the realm of handbags.

This season, everything from minaudières to oversised carryalls are slathered in the stuff in a wide variety of shades – while Christian Siriano opted for a structured, bright red version, Philip Plein showcased a white design with an equally furry handle on its snowy runway.

To take this trend into the real world, we suggest keeping things classy with neutral tones and to go faux
