We won’t get a better opportunity to win T20 World Cup than on home soil next year: Aaron Finch

Australia T20 skipper Aaron Finch has stated that Australia have a pretty good chance of winning the T20 World Cup scheduled in their home next year.

Interestingly, if at all, Australia manage to win the tournament, it will be their maiden T20 World Cup win in addition to the five World Cup trophies which they have won in 50 overs cricket.

Notably, Australia have won the ICC Cricket World Cup in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2015 but are surprisingly yet to win a T20 World Cup.

“It’s the one global trophy that has eluded the men’s team so far and we won’t get a better opportunity than on home soil next year,” Aaron Finch was quoted by ICC as the tickets for the T20 World Cup in October 2020 went on sale.

“Anyone can beat anyone on their day in T20 cricket. So it’s going to be an exciting tournament that will have a number of teams believing they can win,” he added.

Meanwhile, Finch has urged cricket fans back in Australia to come out to support them in large numbers like they did when Australia had co-hosted ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2015. In that edition, Australia had beaten New Zealand in the finals to be crowned champions.

“We saw in 2015 how great the crowds were and we’re looking forward to seeing the whole country getting behind not just Australia but all the competing teams to create that atmosphere that only a World Cup can bring,” Finch concluded.
