The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday (25th June) released the schedule for the 2018 ICC Women’s World Cup T20. The tournament will be held in the West Indies from November 9 to 24.

 

While a total of 10 teams will feature in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, the top eight have already qualified. They are three-time champion Australia, ICC WWC 2017 winner England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and defending champions West Indies. Bangladesh, Ireland, the Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, Thailand, Uganda and the United Arab Emirates will participate in the ICC Women’s World T20 Qualifier to claim the last two spots.

The Indian Women’s Cricket team are in Group B along with the mighty Australians, New Zealand, Pakistan and ‘Qualifier 2’. South Africa, West Indies, England, Sri Lanka and Qualifier 1 are placed in Group A.

In the tournament opener, India will take on New Zealand on 9 November at the Guyana National Stadium. Archrivals India and Pakistan will take on each other on 11 November. The semi-finals and the final match of the ICC WWC T20 will be played at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground in Antigua on November 22 and November 24.
