The Wimbledon 2026 draw has thrown up several blockbuster storylines, with seven-time champion Novak Djokovic and defending champion Jannik Sinner placed in the same half of the men’s singles draw, while Serena Williams is set for her long-awaited Grand Slam singles return.
Djokovic, chasing a record-extending eighth Wimbledon title, begins his campaign against China’s Wu Yibing. If the Serbian progresses as projected, he could meet Stefanos Tsitsipas or Hugo Gaston in the second round, Arthur Rinderknech in the third, and either Andrey Rublev or rising Brazilian Joao Fonseca in the fourth round before a potential quarterfinal against third seed Felix Auger-Aliassime.
World No. 1 and defending champion Jannik Sinner opens against Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic. The Italian is projected to face either Nuno Borges or Tristan Boyer in round two, Peru’s Ignacio Buse in the third round, and Spain’s Rafael Jodar or compatriot Luciano Darderi in the fourth.
Should both favourites progress, Wimbledon could witness a blockbuster semifinal between Djokovic and Sinner. Former US Open champion Daniil Medvedev is projected as Sinner’s quarterfinal opponent and opens his campaign against 2017 Wimbledon finalist Marin Cilic.
In the top half, French Open champion Alexander Zverev begins against Belgium’s Alexander Blockx. The German is seeded to face Matteo Arnaldi in the third round, Jiri Lehecka or Francisco Cerundolo in the fourth, and sixth seed Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals.
Fritz, however, has been handed one of the toughest opening-round matches, taking on Britain’s Jack Draper, who returns to the ATP Tour this week at Eastbourne. Draper holds a 10-5 head-to-head advantage over Fritz and has won each of their last seven meetings, including victories at Wimbledon in 2024 and Halle last month.
The women’s draw is headlined by Serena Williams’ return to Grand Slam singles competition for the first time since the 2022 US Open after receiving a wildcard. The 23-time major champion opens against Australia’s Maya Jantchene.
If Williams advances, she is projected to face Philippines star Alexandra Eala in the second round before a potential blockbuster third-round clash against defending champion Iga Swiatek.
Swiatek begins her title defence against American Taylor Townsend, while World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka faces qualifier Teodora Kostovic. Second seed Elena Rybakina takes on France’s Lois Boisson, and fourth seed Jessica Pegula meets Czech qualifier Darja Vidmanova.
Elsewhere, home favourite Emma Raducanu opens her campaign against Antonia Ruzic, Naomi Osaka faces Elsa Jacquemot, Coco Gauff takes on Tamara Korpatsch, and Mirra Andreeva begins against Magda Linette.
The projected women’s quarterfinals are Sabalenka vs Andreeva, Pegula vs Gauff, Swiatek vs Elina Svitolina, and Rybakina vs Amanda Anisimova.
