Rohit Sharma, who returned to the Vijay Hazare Trophy after a seven-year gap, was dismissed in the second-round match against Uttarakhand, bowled by Devendra Bora. The 6-foot pacer is playing only the third List A match of his career, making the wicket of Rohit all the more significant.

Dismissing an in-form Rohit Sharma will undoubtedly serve as a massive confidence booster for the right-arm medium pacer. The catch was taken by Jagmohan Nagarkoti, much to the disappointment of fans who had gathered at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur as early as 7 am to watch their favourite star in action.

Just a match earlier, Rohit had smashed a sensational 155 off 94 balls, leading his team to chase down a target of 237 with 117 balls to spare. With this he equalled David Warner’s world record for the most 150-plus scores (nine times) in all List A cricket. He also holds the record for most 150+ scores in ODI international cricket (8 times).

Bora, who is 25 years old, made his first-class debut on January 19, 2024, against Puducherry, while his List A debut came on December 21, 2024, against Manipur. He is yet to make his official T20 debut for Uttarakhand.

In five first-class matches for Uttarakhand, Bora has already picked up 30 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 3.34. In List A cricket, he has continued his rise, claiming five wickets in just his third match. He had earlier returned figures of 4/44 on his List A debut against Himachal Pradesh in the same tournament.

Earlier this year, Bora also made a strong impression in the Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL) while representing Dehradun Warriors. He picked up 10 wickets in six matches, averaging 11.38 balls per wicket, and played a crucial role in his team’s campaign, making an impact in almost every game.
