As Wayne Rooney’s late penalty helped Everton split point with Brighton & Hove Albion, on Sunday, the team’s manager Ronald Koeman said that his team’s luck would turn if they continue to show the same “belief and commitment”.
“We fought hard and played well for parts of the match. We were maybe unlucky at the end not to get more. Good attitude from the players,” he tweeted.

The home side looked to have sealed the match when Anthony Knockaert scored in the 82nd minute, but Bruno caught Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the area and Rooney kept his cool and scored to give Everton a draw.
Speaking after the match, Everton’s Phil Jagielka said that though it was good to come back from behind, his team would have to do better.
“We had a couple of blocks and we were unlucky with some of our chances. To come away with a point isn’t what we came here for but I think we’ve got to build on the subs coming on and everyone chipping in at the end to make sure we came away with something,” said Jagielka.
Meanwhile, Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton looked disappointed by the result. “I’m incredibly disappointed. At this moment, because of the timing of the goals, it feels more like a defeat rather than a draw.”
