Veteran Indian cricketer VVS Laxman picked India’s best playing XI of past 25 years and he handed the role of captaincy to Sourav Ganguly in his fantasy squad.

Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, VVS Laxman, who had played under Dada’s captaincy for a long time, picked Sourav Ganguly as his skipper, keeping him ahead of former Indian captain MS Dhoni and his successor Virat Kohli.

In his fantasy squad, Laxman picked swashbuckling Virender Sehwag and the ‘monk’ Murali Vijay as his openers. Rahul Dravid, the wall of Indian cricket, was included in his legendary No. 3 position. India’s batting great Sachin Tendulkar, who holds the record of most centuries in Test, was at number four. The middle order included Sourav Ganguly, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni.
