India’s Vishvanath Suresh and Sachin delivered strong performances on Day 3 of the Asian Boxing Championships 2026 in Ulaanbaatar on Wednesday, registering victories in their respective bouts to progress to the next round.
Competing in the men’s 50kg division, Vishvanath Suresh displayed impressive technical skill and ring awareness to dominate Kyrgyzstan’s Bekzat Ergeshov.
The Indian boxer controlled the bout throughout and secured a convincing 5–0 unanimous decision from the judges.
Suresh will now face a tough challenge in the next round against Kazakhstan’s Sanzhar Tashkenbay, the reigning world champion and a World Cup winner in 2025.
In the men’s 60kg category, Sachin produced a composed performance against Mongolia’s Buyandalai Bayarkhuu. In a closely contested bout, the Indian boxer remained calm under pressure and executed his strategy effectively to claim a 4–1 split-decision victory. He will next take on Chinese Taipei’s Cheng-Wei Lee.
The Asian Boxing Championships 2026 in Ulaanbaatar have brought together leading boxers from across the continent, with each contest playing a key role in determining the path to the medal rounds.
India had begun the campaign strongly on the opening day with wins from Preeti Pawar and Deepak. In the women’s 54kg category, Preeti, a gold medallist at the World Boxing Cup Finals, secured a commanding 5–0 unanimous decision victory over Kazakhstan’s Elina Bazarova, a former Asian U22 Boxing Championships gold medallist (2025).
In the men’s 70kg division, Deepak, a silver medallist at the Boxam Elite International 2026 and bronze winner at the Asian Youth Boxing Championships 2022, edged past Uzbekistan’s Khavasbek Asadullaev with a narrow 3–2 split decision win.
On Day 2, Priya registered a dominant 5–0 victory in the women’s 60kg category against Kazakhstan’s Rimma Volossenko.
Meanwhile, in the men’s 55kg category, Jadumani Singh pushed top seed Rui Yamaguchi of Japan in a tightly contested bout before going down 2–3 on a split decision.
