Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri addressed the media on Friday in New Delhi ahead of Team India’s much-anticipated England tour. Before playing England, Men-in-Blue will face Ireland cricket team in two-match T20I series. India’s England tour will start on July 3.

Earlier, Virat was ruled out of making his appearance in the County championship for Surrey. Virat was set to play County cricket in June but due to his neck injury, he was ruled out of the championship.

Talking to media on Friday, Kohli said, “I am fully fit and ready to face new challenges. “I wanted to experience the conditions in England, but in hindsight, I’m glad I didn’t go there while I wasn’t fully fit. It’s better to be even 90 percent fit and skip. I am at 110 percent and ready to go,” Kohli said.

India’s England tour is not going to be easy as English batsmen are in red-hot form and they are also the table toppers in International Cricket Council (ICC) One Day International (ODI) ranking. Just a few days back, England had posted historic 481-run total for the loss of six wickets against Australia. However, both team India coach Shastri and captain Kohli believe that the Men-in-Blue are ready to play “difficult cricket” and will give a stiff competition to England.

“We are looking forward to playing difficult cricket. That is the only way we can improve as a team. We are looking to change the trend of teams not being good travellers. These are exciting times for Indian cricket,” said Virat Kohli.

Talking about his side’s confidence, Virat said, “We are going to England to win, not to take a stroll on the road and have coffee. It’ll be serious business once we step onto the field.”
