The fourth round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy is underway across multiple venues, with one of the most anticipated fixtures unfolding between Mumbai and Goa. The spotlight is firmly on Arjun Tendulkar, who is facing his former team Mumbai for the first time since switching domestic sides.

Arjun, the son of legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar, officially joined Goa ahead of the 2022-23 domestic season, and this match marks his first one-day appearance against Mumbai. Goa entered the contest on the back of a strong run, having won their previous Vijay Hazare matches against Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Sikkim. Arjun missed the opening game against Chhattisgarh but featured in the playing XI for the next two matches.

For Mumbai, Yashasvi Jaiswal made his Vijay Hazare Trophy debut this season, returning to action after missing the first three matches due to acute gastroenteritis. Opening the batting, Jaiswal replaced Rohit Sharma, who played the first two matches of the tournament but is now set to focus on preparations for the upcoming international series against New Zealand.

Jaiswal narrowly missed out on a half-century, scoring 46 from 64 balls, which included six boundaries. The innings laid the foundation for a dominant Mumbai batting display, led by a sensational knock from Sarfaraz Khan, who smashed 157 off just 77 balls, hammering 14 sixes and nine fours.

Powered by Sarfaraz’s assault, Mumbai posted a commanding total of 444/8 at the end of their 50 overs.

Earlier, Goa won the toss at the Jaipuria Vidyalaya Ground in Jaipur and elected to field. Arjun Tendulkar bowled seven overs, conceding 62 runs, with Jaiswal finding the boundary off him early in the innings. The left-arm pacer was unable to pick up a wicket as Mumbai set a target of 445 runs for Goa, who are yet to begin their chase.
