Though Manchester City remain the leader of the Premier League with 72 points, 16 more than Manchester United, its closest rival, after beating Leicester City 5-1, City manager Pep Guardiola says there is hard work still to be done and his team cannot take things lightly despite a healthy advantage.

“I cannot deny the distance to the next team. Today it is 16, tomorrow it could be 13. There is still a lot to play for, but I don’t know what will happen. But yes, to have 72 points in February, it’s a lot. I would like to take that question after 38 games! We have a lot of injuries and in the next games if we get players back, it will be good,” Guardiola was quoted by www.mancity.com.

“But so far, it’s been so good. We enjoy what we have done a lot, but we need to lift titles,” he added.

Admitting that if his team continues to play with same intensity, it would be difficult to stop the Blues from lifting the Premier League crown, Guardiola said, “If we can keep this spirit for the rest of the season, for the other teams it will be tough. Today, in the first half we were not perfect. Leicester are so complicated, especially Vardy, who is so dangerous. Against Burnley we missed a lot of chances but today we were there. We are strong at home. We feel comfortable here at home.”

In all praise for Sergio Aguero, who scored four goals, the coach said, “When one guy scores four goals, he deserves all the credit. He fought, he played really well, and he scored goals.”

Meanwhile, Aguero praised teammate Kevin De Bruyne for his fantastic hat-trick of assists. “Luckily Kevin De Bruyne plays for us,” Aguero explained to CityTV after the match. “I’m happy as most goals come from his assists. He is a great player and every team in the world would love to have him.”
