South Africa skipper Quinton de Kock said the team, on Wednesday’s T20I encounter with India, depended a lot on star pacer Kagiso Rabada, who went wicketless in three overs and conceded 24 runs. Meanwhile, the captain also backed new players and admired their composure.

After the first T20I in Dharmashala got washed out, South Africa lost to India by 7 wickets in the second match in Mohali.

“We got off to a good start and towards the end they bowled pretty well and they assessed the conditions better than we did,” de Kock said after the match.

Admiring the newcomers in the team, de Kock said, “There was a lot of pressure on some of the new guys and I think they did pretty well against this world-class opposition. South Africa depended a lot on star pacer Kagiso Rabada to get the wickets but he went wicketless and leaked 24 runs in three overs.”

“I was quite hungry to get out there and hopefully next time we do better than what we did today with the bat,” added the visiting captain.

Talking about the match, after getting an invitation to bat first, South Africa scored 149 runs in 20 overs which India chased down in 19 overs, courtesy 72 not out off 52 from India skipper Virat Kohli.

The two sides next meet for the final T20 encounter at Bengaluru on Sunday.
