Suresh Raina undergoes knee surgery, out for 4-6 weeks

India batsman Suresh Raina will not be available for the most part of India’s upcoming domestic season after undergoing knee surgery in Amsterdam on Friday.

The 32-year-old southpaw is currently recovering from the surgery and is said to be out of action for at least four to six weeks.

On Friday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to Twitter to give the news of Raina’s successful surgery and the amount of expected time the batsman needs to recover. Meanwhile, the BCCI also wished Raina a ‘speedy recovery’.

“Mr Suresh Raina underwent a knee surgery where he had been facing discomfort for the last few months. The surgery has been successful and it will require him a 4-6 week of rehab for recovery. We wish him a speedy recovery,” the BCCI said in a tweet.

The 32-year-old southpaw last played for India in a One-Day International against England in 2018.

Raina, a World Cup winner in 2011, has played 18 Tests, 226 ODIs and 78 T20Is. He was last seen in action in the 2019 Indian Premier League with Chennai Super Kings.
