Jese Rodriguez on Wednesday joined Stoke City on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain, becoming the Potters’ sixth signing of the transfer window.

The 24-year-old forward, a double Champions League winner with Real Madrid, completed the formalities of his loan switch in the morning after successfully undertaking a medical.

On a day when one Spanish forward Joselu departed, another comes to replace the void.

Jese follows Darren Fletcher, Kurt Zouma, Maxim Choupa-Moting, Bruno Martins Indi and Josh Tymon in checking-in at the bet365 Stadium this summer.

Rodriguez, a Real Madrid Academy product, spent nine seasons with Los Blancos, scoring 12 goals in 62 La Liga appearances, and was part of their Champions League winning squads in 2014 and 2016.

His progress was disrupted by a serious knee injury but in 2016 he completed a £22million switch to PSG.

He, however, struggled to make an impact in Paris and spent the second half of last season back in La Liga on loan with Las Palmas.

At 5’10, Jese may not have the physical presence of other Premier League forwards, but his stocky frame coupled with his searing pace will serve him in the English top-flight. He is also expected to feature in the Potters’ upcoming tie with Arsenal on Saturday.

Stoke lost their opening game of the season to Everton 1-0 on the weekend. Hopefully, Jese’s arrival’s coincides with a winning run as the club look to feature in Europe next season.
