Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was on Thursday full of praise for Australian players Steve Smith his deputy David Warner. Refusing to go into the debate about the ban on disgraced Australia trio, former skipper Steve Smith his deputy David Warner and young batsman Cameron Bancroft, Tendulkar said he just wanted to see “good cricket”.

The 45-year-old batsman was speaking to the media after the first India camp of the Tendulkar Middlesex Global Academy at the D Y Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Talking about the ban on Smith and Warner by Cricket Australia for one year, Tendulkar said he didn’t want to get into the debate of whether the ban should be reduced or not but said both were “world class players”.

“I would want to see good cricket for sure (in Australia). They both (Smith and Warner) are world-class players. So I don’t want to get into that debate whether the ban should be reduced or not,” before adding, “But I would like to see them, but by no means I am saying or interfering in what their judgment has been. All I am saying in both are world class players,” said Tendulkar.

Recently, the Australian Cricketers Association (ACA) has also asked to lift the bans on Smith, Warner and Bancroft in light of the findings of the cultural reviews into Australian Cricket.

Earlier on Thursday, David Peever stepped down from his position as chairman of the Board of Cricket Australia effective immediately just a week after getting re-elected for another three-year term.

David Peever’s resignation has come in the wake of severe backlash from former cricketers and media following the review of the ball-tampering scandal. The review of the sandpaper incident was made public earlier this week.
