India will host Sri Lanka for a five-match women’s T20I series from December 21 to 30, with the first two games scheduled in Visakhapatnam and the remaining three in Thiruvananthapuram, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Friday.

According to a statement issued by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, the teams will open the series with T20Is on December 21 and 23 at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The action will then shift to the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram for the final three matches, to be played on December 26, 28 and 30.

The announcement comes in the wake of Bangladesh postponing their scheduled December tour of India due to ongoing political tensions, a situation that had earlier forced India’s men’s tour of Bangladesh to be shifted to September 2026.

Visakhapatnam recently hosted India’s league matches against South Africa and Australia during the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, as well as the team’s pre-tournament camp.

Thiruvananthapuram, meanwhile, will be staging women’s international fixtures for the first time, having previously hosted men’s internationals, youth ODIs and age-group Tests.

This series marks India’s first international assignment since their historic maiden Women’s ODI World Cup triumph in Navi Mumbai earlier this month. It also serves as an important milestone in the build-up to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled in England from June 12 to July 5.

Following the Sri Lanka series, the focus will shift to the fourth edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), to be held from January 9 to February 5, 2026, in Navi Mumbai and Vadodara. The Indian team will then depart for a multi-format tour of Australia, running from February 15 to March 6.
