Star Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal has officially announced that she is getting married to fellow badminton player Parupalli Kashyap on December 16.
The Olympics bronze medalist was recently asked how did she break the news to her parents that she wishes to get married to Kashyap. “Bolne ki zaroorat nahi padi (I didn’t have to tell them),” Saina replied to The Times to India.
The 28-year-old shuttler further said, “We used to be together most of the time and my parents also travelled with me, so they understood who I was close to and comfortable with even after my losses.”

Former World Number one in BWF ranking, Saina is considered as one of the best athletes India has ever produced. Saina has numerous accolades to her name. Despite winning many super series, she often gets criticised for her defeats. Talking about winning and losing, the CWG gold medalist said win or lose is the part of life as even she criticises great actors like Shah Rukh Khan or Amir Khan as their fans when they do not do well.
“Even I criticize people. I say that Shah Rukh didn’t do well in this movie or Aamir Khan was not up to the mark. Criticism is part of life. I only have my racket to talk for me. My job is to work hard and win matches. More than people’s criticism, it is my own self that doesn’t let me sleep after my defeats. It is so difficult to digest defeats,” Saina Nehwal admitted.
Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal was also the costlier player from the recently concluded Premier Badminton League (PBL) auction alongside PV Sindhu and Carolina Marin.
