As Hyderabadi batting legend VVS Laxman turned 43 on Wednesday, iconic cricketer Sachin Tendulkar unveiled the secret behind his ‘ability to score runs’.

“Happy birthday, Lax! (Laxman) Shall I spill out the secret behind your ability to score runs? Taking a shower and eating an apple before going to bat. Oops,” Sachin tweeted, wishing the middle-order batsman a happy birthday.

The humble cricketer didn’t shy to acknowledge the ‘God of cricket’, saying it was Sachin himself who inspired him to play impressive cricket.

“Apart from the shower and apple, you forgot a bigger secret @sachin_rt – the inspiration that you gave me right from my younger days. Thank you,” Laxman wrote on Twitter.

Having played 220 international matches for India, Laxman made 11,119 runs, with 23 centuries and 66 fifties, in his illustrious career.
