India’s sensational professional boxer Vijender Singh on Tuesday met cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar to invite him for the upcoming bout against WBO Oriental Super Middleweight champion Zulpikar Maimaitiali of China.

“The very first ticket of my fight was presented to @sachin_rt . What a good start for us. Get ready for #BattleGroundAsia, everyone,” Vijender tweeted, posing in a picture with Sachin.

After a gap of more than six months, Vijender will return to the ring to fight a pro-boxing bout on 5 August at Battleground Asia in Mumbai.

The 31-year-old Bhiwani-based boxer last fought with Francis Cheka in December 2016, whom he defeated to clinch the WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight title.

Having won eight consecutive bouts, Vijender has been unbeaten so far. Vijender aims to continue the winning streak as he added: “Start the countdown! It's 5th August when I'm going to enter the ring to make India proud yet again! #BattleGroundAsia.”

On the other hand, the 22-year-old boxer Zulpikar has won five matches, all via knockouts, out of eight in all.

It will be a battle of dual titles as both the boxers will put their middleweight titles at stake and the winner will take away both the titles.
