Sachin Tendulkar congratulates Amitabh Bachchan on winning Dadasaheb Phalke award

The batting legend even quoted a popular dialogue of the veteran actor’s blockbuster Hindi movie “Agneepath” to convey his greetings to the iconic actor.

Former Indian cricketer and batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar congratulated and sent his best wishes to Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan after the latter was selected for the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

The batting legend even quoted a popular dialogue of the veteran actor’s blockbuster Hindi movie “Agneepath” to convey his greetings to the iconic actor.

“Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, Poora Naam. Baap Ka Naam Dinanath Chauhan, Maa Ka Naam Suhasini Chauhan. Gaon Mandwa. Umar 36…” a line that gives me goosebumps even today! May you continue to win hearts across the globe, Amit ji. #DadaSahebPhalkeAward”,” Sachin tweeted.

Union Minister Prakash Javadekar announced, on Tuesday, the news of Bachchan being selected for the award.

“The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahabPhalke award. The entire country and international community is happy. My heartiest Congratulations to him,” Javadekar had tweeted.

Notably, Amitabh Bachchan, 76, has been part of the Indian Cinema for more than four decades and still remains an active member of the Hindi film industry. He has already been conferred with Padma Vibhushan- the country’s second-highest civilian hounour- in 2015.
