Indian cricket team’s One Day International vice-captain Rohit Sharma on Thursday, during the last ODI match between India and West Indies, can join wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni in an elite list.

Rohit Sharma, who is also fondly known as the hitman for his batting prowess, is just two sixes short of scoring a double century of sixes in the limited overs game. Rohit Sharma has till now struck 198 sixes for India in 192 ODI matches. Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is the only Indian player to touch the mark of 200 sixes in One Dayers. MS Dhoni has struck 218 sixes in his ODI career.

Rohit Sharma is at the seventh spot in the list of six hitters across the globe. Rohit needs just two more sixes in his tally to equal the tally of former New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum. Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi tops the list with 351 sixes, followed by West Indies’ Chris Gayle (275), Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya (270), India’s MS Dhoni (219) and South Africa’s AB de Villiers (204).

Rohit Sharma has been in terrific form in the ongoing five-match ODI series between India and West Indies. The stylish Mumbai batsman has already notched up two 150-plus scores in four matches. Rohit also holds the record for most number of 150 plus scores (seven) in ODIs.

In the calendar year 2018, Rohit Sharma has accumulated 967 runs in 18 ODI innings. He is just 33 runs short of completing 1000 runs in the ongoing year. Rohit Sharma needs 58 more runs to become the second highest run-getter of the year.
