Stand-in Indian skipper Rohit Sharma on Sunday became the fastest Indian to hit 300 international sixes and second quickest player overall to achieve the feat. Rohit Sharma took 301 innings to hit 301 sixes, while veteran Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi had achieved this feat in just 276 innings. The Mumbai batsman has hit 189 sixes in 181 One Day International (ODI) innings, 29 sixes in 43 Test innings and 89 sixes in 33 T20I innings.

On Sunday, Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten 111 runs with the help of four maximums against arch-rival Pakistan and in the process become the seventh batsman to hit 300 international sixes. Other than Rohit Sharma, Shahid Afridi (476 in 508 innings), Chris Gayle (476 in 513 innings), Brendon McCullum (398 in 474 innings), Sanath Jayasuriya (352 in 651 innings), MS Dhoni (342 in 500 innings) and AB de Villiers (328 in 484 innings) are the only players to have hit 300 international sixes.

Rohit Sharma’s stats also show that he hit one six in his every inning — which is far better than Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi and West Indies’ Chris Gayle, who have scored 476 sixes each at an average of 0.93 and 0.86 sixes per innings, respectively.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma also became the fifth fastest player to score 7000 ODI runs. Rohit Sharma also became second fastest to score 5000 runs in limited overs game as an opener.
