In spite of being 32, an age which would suggest game over for most players across the world, Messi has time and again demonstrated that he is one of the finest players ever to grace the football arena.

Messi netted 51 goals with Barcelona which helped his side clinch the La Liga title. In the Champions League tournament, despite his team’s dismal performance, the Argentina captain was the highest scorer in the league netting a dozen goals in the 2018-19 season. The Barcelona forward additionally won the European Golden Shoe and the Pichichi Trophy for a record sixth time.

Leo is yet to win a significant title for Argentina and his records haven’t been that impressive while donning the national colours. With Leo leading his side, the Albiceleste are hoping to end their trophy drought in the Copa America, subsequent to having lost two Copa America finals in 2015 and 2016, not long after they lost the 2014 FIFA World Cup final to Germany.

Federer, who is arguably the best tennis player of the era with a world record of 20 Grand Slam titles to his credit, has admitted that he is in awe of Messi and has clarified why he is a fan of the Argentine maestro.

Federer said that the thing which fascinates him the most about Messi is that when he gets the ball on the football ground, he is able to turn his body towards the goal in order to have a full vision of the goal.

Messi will play for Argentina when they face Brazil in the Copa America semi-finals on 3 July, Wednesday (IST).
