Premier League: Lineups for Manchester United vs Everton announced

Wayne Rooney starts for Everton to face former club Manchester United for the first time since his summer move after a trophy-laden 13 years with the Red Devils as the Toffees travel to Old Trafford desperate for a win in what is expected to be an entertaining Premier League fixture on Sunday.

With Paul Pogba’s hamstring injury forcing his hand, Jose Mourinho has opted to start Marouane Fellaini in midfield alongside Nemanja Matic with Juan Mata, Henrikh Mkitaryan and Marcus Rashford giving former Everton striker Romelu Lukaku company in attack.

David de Gea starts in goal behind a United back four of Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Ashley Young.

Wayne Rooney leads Everton’s 3-5-2 formation, with club record-signing Gylfi Sigurdsson playing alongside him in attack.

Michael Keane, Phil Jagielka and Ashley Wiliams start in Ronald Koeman’s three-man defence with Leigthon Baines and Cuco Martina playing as wing-backs.

Idrissa Gueye, Tom Davies partner Morgan Schneiderlin in midfield, who is another player up against his former club.

Manchester United: De Gea, Valencia (c), Bailly, Jones, Young, Matic, Fellaini, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Rashford and Lukaku.

Everton: Pickford, Baines, Keane, Williams, Jagielka, Martina, Schneiderlin, Gueye, Davis, Sigurdsson and Rooney.
