Premier League: Lineups for Manchester City vs Stoke City announced

Premier League leaders Manchester City host Stoke City on Saturday and their respective managers’ have announced the lineups for the clash at the Etihad Stadium.

 

Pep Guardiola has named an unchanged starting XI from the one that beat Chelsea before the international break commenced.

Gabriel Jesus continues to lead the line for the Citizens as Sergio Aguero makes the bench for the first time since fracturing a rib in a car crash. Young wingers Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling flank Jesus while David Silva, Fernandinho and Kevin De Bruyne form up in midfield.

Fabian Delph continues to deputise for long-term injury absentee Benjamin Mendy at left-back while John Stones, Nicolas Otamendi and Kyle Walker complete the four-man defence that lines up in front of custodian Ederson.

 

Stoke, who have already beaten Arsenal and forced Manchester United to drop points this season, are playing in a 3-4-2-1 formation.
Jack Butland retains his place in goal behind a three-man backline of Kurt Zouma, Geoff Cameron and Kevin Wimmer. Darren Fletcher has Thomas Edwards for company while Erik Pieters and Mami Biram Diouf are the preferred wing-backs.

Summer signing Jese and Xherdan Shaqiri play just behind striker Eric Choupo Moting as the Potters look for their first away win of the season.

Manchester City: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Otamendi, Delph, De Bruyne, Silva (c), Fernandinho, Sane, Sterling and Jesus.

Stoke City: Butland; Edwards, Zouma, Wimmer, Pieters, Cameron, Fletcher (c), Diouf, Shaqiri, Choupo-Moting and Jese.

Match kicks-off at 3 PM GMT/7.30 PM IST.
