PM Modi meets 2018 Asian Para Games medal winners

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met and felicitated the medal winners of the 2018 Asian Para Games on Tuesday in New Delhi immediately after their return from Jakarta in Indonesia.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister expressed happiness at receiving the medal winners.

Appreciating their performance, he remarked that their mental strength was a key factor in their success. The Prime Minister complimented them for contributing to raising India’s profile on the global stage.

The Prime Minister also expressed appreciation for the coaches of the medal winners. He also urged the athletes to keep up their spirit of optimism, and persevere to achieve even greater heights.

“There can be no better encouragement than PM making time for us 70 medallists soon after our arrival,” Bronze medallist Deepa Malik was quoted as saying by ANI.

Bronze medallist Suhas Yathiraj said that it was heart-touching when the PM told the athletes that they won life before they won the medals.

India finished ninth in the competition with 15 Gold, 24 Silver and 33 Bronze. While China topped with 172 Golds, South Korea and Iran came in second and third with 53 and 51 Gold, respectively.
