India has drafted all-rounder Suryansh Shedge into their squad for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England after Nitish Kumar Reddy was ruled out with a left quadriceps injury.

Confirming the change, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement: “The Men’s Selection Committee has named Suryansh Shedge as a replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy in India’s squads for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England.”

Reddy reported discomfort in his left quadriceps following the third ODI against Afghanistan on June 20. After further medical evaluation, the BCCI medical team recommended a period of rehabilitation, ruling the all-rounder out of both T20I assignments.

Shedge earns his maiden senior India call-up on the back of a series of impressive performances across domestic and representative cricket.

The 23-year-old recently starred for India A in the tri-series in Sri Lanka, scoring 147 runs in five matches from the middle order while also contributing with the ball. He bowled 23 overs during the tournament, claimed two wickets and produced a match-winning unbeaten 72 against Sri Lanka A.

The Mumbai all-rounder also played a key role in his state’s triumphant Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 campaign. Batting in the lower middle order, he amassed 131 runs at a staggering strike rate of 251.92, providing crucial late-order firepower as Mumbai clinched the title.

Shedge further strengthened his credentials during IPL 2026, where he impressed for Punjab Kings. He scored 158 runs in seven innings at an average of 39.50 and a strike rate of 175.50, including a half-century.

India will begin their white-ball tour with two T20Is against Ireland in Dublin on June 26 and 28 before travelling to England for a five-match T20I series starting July 1. The tour will conclude with a three-match ODI series.

The Ireland matches will mark India’s first T20I appearances since their T20 World Cup triumph earlier this year, with Shreyas Iyer set to lead the side in the shortest format.
