Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle on Tuesday backed India cricketer Prithvi Shaw after the latter was handed an 8-month ban by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for doping violation.
Harsha said that the Indian cricket needs to handle the Under-19 World Cup-winning captain carefully and put him on the right path. Meanwhile, Bhogle also acknowledged the achievements of the 19-year-old Shaw.
Bhogle took to Twitter and wrote: “Indian cricket needs to handle Prithvi Shaw carefully and set him on the right path. This is a kid who has achieved success the hard way.”

As per the BCCI, Shaw had inadvertently ingested a prohibited substance, which can be commonly found in cough syrups. His urine sample contained Terbutaline. This led the lad to serve a ban of 8 months from 16 March to 15 November with retrospective effect.
After the suspension, Shaw said that he was shaken by the decision and took all responsibility for unknowingly consuming the banned syrup. Meanwhile, the promising youngster also said that he will come out of the matter faster and stronger.
